How Hydrophilic Waterstops Work
Hydrophilic waterstops are an effective and economical waterproofing solution for cast in-situ concrete joints. They are commonly used in zero to low movement joints, such as cold joints between footings and foundations. They may also be applied around formwork spacers, tie rods and pipe penetrations.
The name hydrophilic refers to their ability to absorb water. Once exposed to moisture, the material expands significantly, creating a protective and long lasting compression seal that prevents water from entering the joint.
